In March 2018 a Call for Art was released by Galax Public Art for proposals to create a new mural on a low standing wall in front of Chestnut Creek School of the Arts' Woodworking Studio. The mural was to reflect our Galax culture, an outreach component to community involvement and include CCSA's facilities.
Four proposals were submitted, but ultimately Michael Cooper's Murals and More won the bid! Michael's crew started October 29th and were finished painting within two weeks. There was a celebratory Last Stroke Dedication in which community members joined in painting their stroke on the drop clothes. Merchandise will be created from these drop clothes to be sold in CCSA's gift shop.
